The License FAQ PDF Print E-mail

What is a LGPL?

Is it viral?

Can it be cured?

Here are the answers to common questions for the license issues.

What license does soapui use?
soapUI uses LGPL, Lesser Gnu Public License, since we believe it to be the most developer friendly. You can read more about it here.

What license does soapui pro use?
soapUI Professional uses our own eviware license, based on the Open Source license model.

I want to use and distribute soapUI in an application. But I heard that Open Source licenses can be something called "viral". Does that mean you will infect my computer?
(Open Sourcers, don't laugh this is an actual question)
No. A viral license is a license that states that any application that uses the software based on the license must also use the same license. And as we said soapui uses LGPL, Lesser Gnu Public License which is not viral. You can read more about it here.

Do I have to register for soapui?
No.

What kind of license is the soapUI Pro license?
The soapUI Professional license is pretty much a standard Close Source, commercial License. You can read it here.
